One of America’s popular fashion magazine, V magazine, just released their 100th issue and we have to say it’s nothing short of amazing.
The issue features Dakota Fanning, Katy Perry, Cate Blanchett, and many more. But who gets to be the lucky front cover? No other than our queen of pop music, Britney Spears. Shot by Mario Testino,, Britney was rocking a Balmain sheer black bodysuit and thigh high stockings, alongside some Christian Loutboutin shoes on the cover. Her blonde hair was pulled in a messy ponytail and her eye makeup said nothing but bold. Definitely front page worthy!
But then you wonder, why Britney? When V magazine initially started, they aimed for “die-hard fashion followers”, but as the magazine progressed, it has come to be known that V held a similar importance for the music industry. So when going for the 100th issue, founder editor-in-chief Stephen Gan took into consideration the pop stars and musicians who we “look up to and admire”. And that’s when he said “Britney.”
A lingerie segment within the issue featured actress Gabourey Sidibe. Her confidence inspired many people to keep striving in the industry regardless of your color or size. Sidibe brings about diversity and empowerment for the magazine and the industry. Her lingerie photos were shot by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vidoodh Matadin, the same photographers who shot her cover photo in 2010.
A section in the magazine shows an Alphabet series for the special 100th edition that featured different celebrities shot in black and white photos according to the letter of their first or last name. Katy Perry being one of them, was looking more serious than ever in one of her photos.
We all know the Hadid sisters have been blowing up the fashion industry lately, so it’s no surprise Bella Hadid ended up having a few snaps in a V Magazine spread. Wearing a fancy collared blouse with black tull, 19-year-old Bella, posed in front of a chalkboard covered in writing. Bella’s mother Yolanda Foster boasted her daughter’s success as she was labeled “Most Likely to Succeed” and posed for Chanel Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld in the 100th issue of V.
Also shot by Karl Lagerfeld, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid made appearances in the “class reunion” theme, having both models posing next to blackboards. Gigi playing “Class President” and Kendall playing “Team Captain”, the shoot Lagerfeld conducted described each model’s personality and character so brilliantly.
