All the Trends You Need to See From New York Fashion Week

Today marks the end of the Fall/Winter 2015-16 New York Fashion Week, and as always it was far from a disappointment. We will look at some of the top trends you can expect to see in stores this fall/winter season, and some of our favorite shows from the week!

It’s no surprise to see fur hit the runway for fall, but this season it has emerged more powerful than ever. Whether it was seen as a dress, coat or a cross body stole, fur is definitely a huge trend for this fall. Some of the designers that debuted the trend best were Michael Kors, Dennis Basso, Creatures of the Wind and Jason Wu.

The next trend we saw all over the runway was leather, but not just in its usual leather pants and jacket. Designers upgraded the ever popular turtleneck by creating it in leather this season. Leather took this 70s style and made it more edgy and cool. Designer’s featured leather in other variations as well, so expect to see a lot of leather in stores. Alexander Wang, Yigal Azrouel and Narciso Rodriguez mastered this trend on the runway.

Crop tops still managed to sneak their way into this fall/winter fashion week, but surprisingly in a weather appropriate way. Instead of a bare midriff like we are used too, crop tops were paired over a poplin shirt or dress. This adds a girly flare to any of your wintery outfits. Thakoon, Rosie Assoulin, and Katie Ermilio debuted this trend throughout their shows.

Another trend that is perfect for the colder temperatures is the poncho, specifically the sporty poncho that was seen on multiple runways. Tommy Hilfiger, Maria Cornejo and Public School all featured a more athletic looking take on the classic piece. From windbreaker fabrics to varsity tripes, these designers nailed the athletic poncho look.

A bomber jacket is a staple of any wardrobe, so why settle for any bomber jacket when it can be a shiny one like the ones from Rodarte, Alexander Wang and Rag & Bone? Although each of these designers debuted fairly different collections, the message was pretty consistent, make sure it shines.
