Sexy, chic, and runway ready, the Ulyana Sergeenko’s Fall 2014 haute couture line made its debut in Paris on July 8th. Sergeenko pulled her inspiration from Russia’s revolutionary period and the creativity and artwork that arose during that time. Such inspirations included a Tamara de Lempicka painting and the geometric abstractions of Kazimir Malevich’s art. The very first piece to hit the runway was a long black glossy leather coat. Worn by model Anna Martynova, this officer’s style coat proved that Sergeenko was committed to show that this show would be different than her others. The Fall 2014 collection still included the more traditional, fifties-inspired, fairy-tale gowns that Sergeenko has become known for, as well as beautiful, dream-like pieces with a slightly sexier modern twist. Accessories such as glasses, boas, handbags, and hair clips were used on a by-outfit basis throughout the show.
However, there is no denying, this season saw nothing short of a revolution in Sergeenko’s style that we couldn’t help but respect and adore, proving Sergeenko belongs in the couture world.
