Oscar Trends 2014

Oscar Trends: Blush, Nudes, Strapless, and Deep V’s

This year’s Academy Awards, hosted by Ellen Degeneres, was a huge success. From the famed celeb selfie that crashed twitter to the huge pizza party. The Oscars were not only entertaining but the fashion trends were eye-catching and sophisticated. 12 Years a Slave took home best picture and Matthew McConaughey won his well deserved Oscar for Dallas Buyers club, but some awards should have been given out on the red carpet. As the biggest night in fashion, many dazzled while others.. not so much.

The most evident trend on the red carpet this year were the nude hue dresses. Oscar winner Cate Blanchett wore a floral detailed nude dress by Armani Prive with jewels from Chopard, Jessica Biel rocked a strapless Chanel Haute Couture gown that was coated with 250,000 sequins while Jenna Dewan dazzled in a nude frock that featured a detailed upper body and a ruched bottom.

Some decided to hit the carpet with a bang with plunging V necklines. New celebrity it girl and best supporting actress winner Lupita Nyong’o wore a pale blue creation by Prada that featured a deep V. Nyong’o accessorized her dress with 18 karat Fred Leighton gold and was the only celebrity to tie the look together with a headband. Other stars rocking this trend were Kate Hudson in her Atelier Versace gown and Charlize Theron wearing Dior Haute Couture.

Blush colors were a popular sight on the red carpet. From Camilla Alves in Gabriela Cadena, to Penelope Cruz in a one shoulder Giambattista Valli Haute Couture silk gown, and even Lady Gaga, who is known for her avant garde looks, wore a beaded Atelier Versace dress.

Celebs like Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams dazzled in strapless dresses. Lawrence, the face of Dior, took center stage in her tomato Dior Haute Couture peplum gown while her costar Amy Adams dazzled in a navy blue strapless Gucci Premiere gown. Academy Award Nominee, Sandra Bullock enjoyed the night in her navy draped Alexander Mcqueen masterpiece.
