Gucci has finally joined other major brands like Chanel, Dior and YSL at the beauty counter with the launch of its own makeup collection. The label’s first cosmetics collection, which will include face makeup, eye, lip and nail colors, debuted at their show on September 17th during Milan Fashion Week.
The new Cosmetics Line comes from the union of both Pat McGrath, creative design director of P&G’s beauty division, and Frida Giannini, Creative Director of the Italian fashion house. The new beauty collection is a project the brand has always been interested in, as the designer shared :
“I’m so enthusiastic about this project because to me it was something that was really missing in the Gucci aesthetic and the Gucci collection.Makeup is something that defines the look of a woman and defines a look of a catwalk, so to me it was really important to add this piece.”
The face that has been chosen for the advertisement campaign is Charlotte Casiraghi (who happens to be Grace Kelly’s granddaughter) is the face of the campaign and captivated Frida with her eyes. As Frida shared:
“When we were talking about the focus of this project and the campaign, we started with the eyes. Charlotte, has beautiful eyes. To me, the eyes are always the most important because with your eyes you can really interact with people. They are very magnetic, so that’s why I love the eyes maybe more than anything else.”
She added: “I think that from your eyes you can really exude confidence and sensuality. You can be very provocative, you can be very feminine, you can be very sweet, you can be very tough. Charlotte was a natural choice as she embodies the modern iconic Gucci woman, aside from her striking beauty, she is sophisticated, successful, and iconic.”
The new line comes in a beautiful packaging , engraved with the signature crossed G pattern, better known as Guccissima. THe fashion house as even assembled a package of the “Iconic Six”: gold, black, red, bronze, copper, and the most vivid ottanio (Italian for teal).
