Milan Fashion Week Spring 2015: Day 2

It’s day 2 of Milan Fashion Week. And the Prada collection gave off an air of catastrophe. The venue, designed by AMO, consisted of small lilac colored sand sand dunes lining the runway. The spring/summer 2015 included a surprising amount of coats. The pieces were made of “incredible” and “antique” fabrics, yet often had a lot of topstitching, loose threads, and unfinished hems — a visual combination of rich and poor. So much so that the show almost told it’s own story on the runway.

Max Mara reverted to a very specific style of their spring/summer 2015 collection. Bold animalistic prints, loose silhouettes, calf length skirts, rain hats, and boots — all with a little 70’s vibe. The middle of the show transferred into something a little more vibrant and bright, with long pink, orange, blue, and teal floral wrap jackets. The final number definitely continued the theme, while added a modern twist. The sheer black top was almost see-though and the skirt was pattered only with minimal striping.

Barbie goes to Fashion Week! Moschino’s collection brought every female in the excited  crowd back to their childhood. “Barbie Girl” started the show, and from there model after model came down the runway with huge blonde hair, and a stunner of an outfit that we could only image barbie wearing. The first down the catwalk was a sexy hot pink, leather, cropped, side-zip jacket paired with a zippered matching mini skirt. Every outfit that followed screamed fun, screamed sexy, and definitely Barbie. Whether she was roller blading, working out, going shopping or to the beach,  just leaving the spa or the club, or even going formal, the outfits were unique, sometimes outrageous, but absolutely fun!

Rome was the inspiration for the Fendi show. Or really, it was the brand new Roman Fendi headquarters, the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, that inspired the set. The collection was designed to be “on the road”, as Fendi continues to progress rapidly forward in the fashion world. For example, the collection used a new technique called “high frequency”, which avoids the stitching in the fabric. Another example was Cara Delevingne, the young and much-talked about, up and coming model. Although you may recognize her from the Topshop show in London last week, she walked exclusively for Fendi in Milan this week.
