Riri once again is in the spotlight — and this time she is making fashion history. On March 13, 2015, Rihanna was officially appointed as the newest brand ambassador for Dior. This makes her the first ever African American spokesperson they have had.
Although Riri may be a new face to Dior, she is no novice in the world of high fashion. She has previously been featured in Balmain campaigns and currently stands as Puma’s creative director. Now she stands next to major celebs, such as, Jennifer Lawrence, Mila Kunis, Natalie Portman, and Charlize Theron, representing Dior.
Rihanna will be appearing in “Secret Garden”, an elegant brand promoting video series. Three videos in the series have already been released, that featured models Daira Strokus, Xiao Wen Ju, and Melissa Stasiuk. Rihanna will be filmed by Steven Klein in France at the Château de Versailles.
Singing sensation, Rihanna, admits that she is not only excited for the process itself, but also for the footprint she has made on history and fashion. “It is such a big deal, for me, for my culture, for a lot of young girls, of any color… I think to be acknowledged by Dior, it means a lot as a woman to feel beautiful, to feel elegant and timeless.”
