Last night was one of the biggest nights for the music industry, the 2015 Grammy’s. All the hottest celebs and musicians were there to see who was going to be the big winners of the night.
Sam Smith stole the show, picking up four awards, three of them in major categories: best new artist and song of the year and record of the year for his Tom Petty-echoing smash hit “Stay With Me.” He also gave a dazzling performance of “Stay with Me” with Mary J. Blige pitching in.
It wasn’t quite a clean sweep though. Beck surprised everyone with an album of the year win for “Morning Phase.” Kanye pulled a Kanye and “jokingly” hopped on stage when Beck won out over Beyoncé. Beck seemed just as surprised that he won album of the year as well.
Some of the other big wins of the night were Pharrell for best pop solo performance for “Happy”, Kendrick Lamar for best rap song for “I”, and Beyonce for best R&B performance for “Drunk In Love.”
The show was riddled with several live performances, as usual, but this year the performances all had a more slow and somber feel than usual. Ariana Grande performed her new single “Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart,” Beyonce performed “Precious Lord Take My Hand,” Katy Perry performed “By the Grace of God,” Jessie J and Tom Jones perform “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling.” and many other performances filled the award show.
Aside from the musical winners, there were also lots fashion winners for the show. Kendall and Kylie Jenner both stunned in their sexy gowns. Taylor Swift looked effortlessly glamorous in her curtain-skirted Elie Saab half-mini/half-gown. Beyonce brought some sex appeal with her Porenza Schouler sheer detailed gown.
