There was a lot of hype around Chanel’s latest short film, Reincarnation, featuring Pharrell Williams and Cara Delevingne, however, that was just the beginning. The film aired before Karl Lagerfeld’s Métiers d’arts collection, which is the fasting growing part of the Chanel business today. The show, called “Paris-Salzburg,” was held at the Rococo Palace Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria.
The show brought an Alpine style to life, as Karl Lagerfeld reinvented new versions of the traditional and famous Chanel jacket. The show opened with an array of embellished and embroidered cape-like jackets, sweaters, and blouses. Each piece had a touch of the Viennese military academy and the models’ looks were complete with moccasins, clogs, or laced boots. The show smoothly transitioned into Lagerfeld’s expertise of stunning evening wear, where each model came out in elegant piece after elegant piece. The collection overall was deemed conservative chic. Lily Allen, who attended the show, left saying “It makes me want to feel like being warm, cozy — and chic.”
Guests were encouraged to try a tray filled with local delicacies and received a gift of a small tote bag containing a reprint of “Der Rosenkavalier”.
The show not only featured beautiful pieces but also starred familiar faces Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne. Karl Lagerfeld took his bow hand-in-hand with Miss Delevingne, where he took a pretzel off a nearby table and gave it to Cara, who took a bite and then finished her bow with it in her hand.
