Chanel was vacationing in Austria when she was deeply inspired by the elevator operator’s uniform which eventually influenced her signature jacket, and helped launch her incredibly successful fashion career.

The video begins with a view of the hotel where Williams works as an elevator operator and Delevingne as a waitress. The camera pans back to reveal the portraits of the Emperor of Austria, Franz Joseph I, and his wife, Empress Elizabeth “Sisi” of Austria who later, Delevingne and Parrell transform into while dancing and singing in a dark lobby.

Here, they perform an original duet, composed by Pharrell, inspired by original Viennese music . Although Parrell’s musical talent is well-known, this is the first time that Cara Delevingne has sung on camera. She shares she always wanted to sing, so singing with Parrell Williams was a great way to start!

Geraldine Chaplin does a wonderful portrayal of Chanel in the video. The cast also included Lady Amanda Harlech (no stranger to Karl Langerfeld’s short films) and models Baptiste Giabiconi and Heidi Mount, as well as six-year-old Hudson Kroenig.

Lagerfeld’s video was a beautiful musical, with talented vocals, extravagant costuming, and expert cinematography. It accompanied the December 2nd Chanel Paris/Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’art collection in Salzburg, Austria. Cara Delevingne, will also be the face of the new campaign of the Paris‑Salzburg Métiers d’Art collection.

Reincarnation was used to pay homage to an iconic creation, with a lasting impression, all stemming from such a classically simple inspiration. And who better to pull it off, that one of Hollywood’s favorite artists, and fashion’s British it-girl? We only hope that they collaborate again in the future!
