Alexander Wang x H&M Collection Runway Show

Last night, the Armory on the Hudson in New York City was transformed into a futuristic racetrack runway for the global launch of the Alexander Wang x H&M collection. Keeping with his theme of his announcement of the collection at Coachella, the show started with DJ Jesse Marco as he turned the runway into a dance floor. Next up was hip hop artist Sharaya J who opened for Missy Elliot. Alexander Wang wanted it to be all about high energy and a full experience for everyone who was watching, and he did just that.

To keep the energy up, there were free runners using the set for their parkour performance before the models started the runway. The women’s collection was all about  mixing sports and performance into everyday life. Wang used functional and fashionable fabrics and detailing to create his first ever versatile performance wear wardrobe. He designed 38 pieces as well as accessories that can all be worn on the street, at the gym, or at the club.

awCelebrities made their way to the runway show too including Jessica Chastain, Dakota Fanning, Mary J Blige, Justin Theroux, and Solange Knowles

His debut athletic performance wear pieces include quick-dry running tops and perforated laser cut shorts, each branded with Alexander Wang in mesh. He also designed seamless t-shirts, tank tops, and crop tops with a sneaky message that is only visible when its worn. The other pieces, like sports bras, tights and dresses all feature the Wang logo but on different scales.   Alongside these incredible pieces, he also designed some amazing coats and accessories. The coats have a utilitarian style, that offer protection with a black seamless waterproof material. Some of the numerous accessories include scuba loves, beanies, and compression socks all fitting into the sporty theme. To really complete the sport performance vibe and adding a bit of humor, Wang also featured some yoga mats, water bottle, towels and swim goggles. Here are some of our favorite looks from the women’s collection!

Now for the men’s collection, which is equally as edgy and creative. He used similar styles and materials for the men’s line, like seamless quick dry T-shirts, and perforated leggings and shirts. Of course all of these pieces are branded with the Wang logo as well. Wang designed a silver reflective down jacket clad with side zippers and his signature logo as well as a black hooded parka branded with WANG on the back, creating a very fashionable yet still functional take on performance outerwear. There are similar accessories to the women’s line, the beanies, scuba gloves, leather zippered sneakers, and compression socks were all featured again. Here our some of our favorite looks form the men’s collection!
