Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty

After hoards of New Yorkers and tourists lined up for hours just to view Alexander McQueen’s beautiful work entitled “Savage Beauty” displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in 2011, London’s Victoria and Albert museum (V&A) decided to put this transfixing retrospective of Alexander McQueen’s work in their halls.

The grand opening of the Savage Beauty display took place on Sunday and had many socialites in attendance. Most of them  thoughtfully donning McQueen gowns  including Erin O’Connor, Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham,  Erdem Moralioglu , Sarah Burton, and the British performer FKA twigs.

The show itself is the first and largest retrospective of McQueen’s work in Europe and will span his entire professional design life, from his 1992 M.A graduate collection all the way up to the late designers unfinished fall 2010 collection (this collection was not finished because of McQueen’s untimely suicide in February of 2010)

If you are in London or plan on seeing this awe inspiring artwork, McQueen’s Savage Beauty is currently open at the V&A and will remain there until August 2nd. If you are unable to make it across the pond before then, take a look at these amazing pictures below!
