5 Fashion Must Haves to Transition from Summer to Fall

We’re in the prime of summer- that means beach days, long nights and a killer wardrobe to perfectly compliment bronzed skin. However, with fall right around the corner it’s time to think about what we’ll be wearing as the weather cools down. There’s no better way to be fabulously efficient than to fixate on pieces that work for both seasons. We’ve compiled a list of closet essentials to make the summer to fall transition stylish (and cost-effective) as ever.

1.

red blazer

Nothing makes a chic and refined statement like a crisp blazer, no matter the season. A classic blazer is an excellent closet item to exude sophistication at work or add a sharp touch to a weekend look. Harlowe and Graham’s Shirttail Blazer in Red Samba ($58, originally $98) is the perfect piece to complete a look. Throw this edgy red number over cutoff shorts and a white tee for a summer event or match with skinnies and a pair of sexy high booties as fall approaches (Bonus: deep red is a big color for fall!).

We love nothing more than to recycle our favorite dresses throughout the seasons. Alexander Wang’s Heather Maxi Dress ($210) is the perfect play between a summer and fall dress. The simplistic silhouette demands accessories to compliment it. The slit gives the dress a summery touch, and as fall approaches a light sweater will transform it into a sexy and sleek look.

3.

shoes

These amazing Nicholas Kirkwood Metallic Flats ($395) feed two of our major obsessions- Point-toe shoes and metallic. Iridescent accents are a major hit this summer and we absolutely love that these flats are equal parts casual and dressy. The eye-catching shimmery blue is the perfect finishing accessory to any look and they carry perfectly into darker hued clothing for fall.

4.

zara

We love that a backpack fits all of our essentials and more, while allowing us to be hands-free during long days out. Not to mention the cool edge it adds to a look. Zara’s Quilted Rucksack ($20, originally $70) faux leather backpack has quickly become our favorite summer bag and we can’t wait to rock it during fall with darker, solid separates. This small backpack will fit everything you need and get you through the days chicly and efficiently.

5.

skirt

There’s no hiding the fact that suede has taken over runway trends this year. With the resurgence of the 70s this season, suede has become a rejoiced closet staple for 2015. Button front skirts have also re-marked their place in the fashion world. Topshop’s Suede Button Front A-Line Skirt ($140) combines the two trends with a tan suede finish on an a-line mini skirt with a popper button front. Match with a crop top for a simple and cute summer day look, or throw on some tights and a cashmere sweater when the weather begins to cool down.
