Trend Alert: Hair Tapestry

Music Festival season is here with Coachella just a month away! Skip those festival braids, flower crowns, and hair chalk this year and try this fun, unique hair trend.

This trend emerged by Hair Guru Alex Brownsell of bleachlondon.co.uk , a salon in London. One Direction’s hairstylist, Lou Teasdale, shared this picture of her monochrome design via Instagram. This trend has since spread over the pond and just in time for you to try this look at one of Cali’s best music festivals!

What is Hair Tapestry?
Hair Tapestry is when bright color threads are woven in your hair. You can use one color to make the process easier or you can use many color threads to create a design of your choice. Hair Tapestry uses the woven techniques as used when creating loom bands and woven friendship bracelets. Don’t worry! We’re here to help our Poshies accomplish this look with just a few steps.

Hair Tapestry DIY in four easy steps:

Step 1: Place a tapestry loom on the section of hair you would like to weave.

Step 2: Create a “warp” by sectioning you’re hair into strands

Step 3: Weave embroidery thread using a flat needle through your hair as a “weft”, creating the tapestry width that you prefer.

Then repeat step 3 and continue to weave forwards and backwards until your desired length.
*You can accomplish a colorful pattern by switching out different color threads as you go.

Step 4: Finish by weaving the final thread through the back of your hair tapestry.
