Haute Couture 2014: Versace

Sunday was all about Versace, as the week of high-fashion in Paris began. The first of the Fall 2014 collections to be shown was a bold, fifties-inspired look. Donatella Versace designed boldly  beautiful pieces, yet with refined and tailored lines.  Sharp shoulder cuts, thin metallic belts, and unique cutouts were used to create this season’s look. All Versace models wore heavy blue, green, or black eye makeup and slicked back hair to emphasize the  high thick neckpiece or metallic choker on various outfits.

Sexy, sleek, and unique, this deep purple number wraps up around the neck and right shoulder, while showing some skin through the long slit, bare arms and shoulder. The crossed fabric and metallic patterning at the waist add a tight harsher look, while the flowing skirt and half a sweetheart neckline soften it.

Another purple number, this dress utilizes all of the most talked about aspects of the collection. The fitted top exposes a bare shoulder with a high neckline. The skirt is belted at the top, with a slit, a pocket, and fringe.

This all black piece is simple yet sexy. With metallic accents on the neck, chest, waist, and wrists there is almost an underlying Aztec look. The short on the right side exposes a bare leg and tall black peep-toe boots.

A clear show-stopper. Bold and beautiful, these two gowns graced the runway at the same time. Both were black metallic under the large skirts, one paired with white and belts at the hip, the other with a dusty rose one shoulder and a metallic choker.
