Day four of New York Fashion Week brought some much-needed color to these spring collections, which have been showcasing a large amount of black and white in the previous three days. While all the designers of day four produced amazing shows, our two standout collections for the day go to fashion powerhouse Nanette Lepore and the animalistic and incredibly innovative collection of Extebberia.
Sheers, cutouts, and crops are still the most popular trends, utilized by practically every designer of NYFW thus far. Metallics also continue to make an appearance, along with sliders and flowy and unconventional pieces (Like David Tlale’s dress-length men’s shirt, DKNY’s double skirt, and Fashion Shenzhen’s skirt seam, all shown below).
Men’s fashion made quite a splash today, though, with the ultra-masculine Tyson Beckford heading David Tlale’s collection (thank you David Tlale) in a delicately feminine shirt paired with masculine metallic pants, immediately intertwining the two worlds of fashion. Extebberia also heavily featured menswear with feminine undertones achieved through the pairing of fur shorts, which is a fabric generally utilized in women’s fashion, and masculine leather tops.
