New York Fashion Week Spring 2015: Day 1

Let it begin! New York Fashion Week is finally here — and it takes off with a bang. Yesterday began the week of fabulous fall styles from a wide variety of designers.

Thursday was jam-packed with runway shows filling the day from 9 am to 9 pm. Designers included BCBG Max Azria, Tome, Nicholas K, Tadashi Shoji, and Marissa Webb. Here, we have all the highlights from New York Fashion Week: Day 1.

The day kicked off the Nicholas K’s Spring 2015 collection on the runway. All donning sunglasses, the models looked urban, sexy, unique, and absolutely fierce.

One of our personal favorites was the BCBG Max Azria show. You would almost feel spring in the air, as each of these pastel airy dresses floated gracefully down the runway. BCBG also brought a fresh bohemian feeling to their spring looks, continuing the California-based free-spirit vibe. Sticking to light soft materials and springtime colors and patterns, the unique cuts still flattered every model and made us excited for spring!

Even the celebs couldn’t stay away. Emily Meade, Amanda Crew, Jamie Chung, and Shay Mitchell were front row at the BCBG show yesterday, probably wanting to get their hands on those spring gowns, too.

The Tadashi Shoji show consisted of clean colors and lines for the gowns. Keeping to a classic gray, blue, and white palate, Shoji used patterns, lines, and cutes, to make each outfit unique. Although the style was kept conservative, Shoji proved that crop tops were back — and better than ever!

Tome kept it sophisticated on the runway, creating a chic and shiny business look. With unique cuts and shapes — including crop tops, off the shoulder looks, and an array of blazers and jackets — and a classy simple color palate, the collection was flawless.

Giovanna Randall kept the beautiful old-Britich look of Honor, while not being afraid to add some flair. The show opened with a beautiful little powder-blue coat, black embroidery at the bottom, and a cream skirt peaking out the bottom . The rest of the collection included all different cuts and colors — from flowing gown, to colored crop-tops, to tailored jackets. Honor Spring/Summer 2015 was elegant and unique, finishing with an ice blue high-collared gown that finished off the show perfectly.

Marissa Webb was able to keep loose dresses and bulky jackets sexy in a ready-to-wear collection we just couldn’t get enough of. Outfits were detailed with large buttons, fabric belts, and zippers, while dresses were kept urban, youthful, and chic.
