NeginInterview

When in need of some inspiration for elegant glamour, who is our go-to blogger? Negin Mirsalehi, of course.  The 26 year-old stunner is an expert in all things fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. Between her trending blog posts and her fun Instagram pictures, there is no denying that with over 1.4 million followers, she has successfully built an audience, us included. Her site has been active for less than two years and already has so much buzz around it. It is clear that she has a charm to effortlessly leave her readers obsessing over her style, her hair, her adventures, and most importantly, her. Negin has won the “Most Promising Fashion Blog Award” by Stylight, has been recognized by Marie Claire’s Prix de la Mode as the “Best New Media Talent,” and has been featured in Elle China. It is safe to say that she has made a name for herself in the fashion world.  Residing in Amsterdam with her family and long-time boyfriend, Maurits, the internationally known blogger manages to find time to travel the world in style and includes us every step of the way. Here at Posh Point, we are lucky to have the opportunity to chat with her and answer some questions we know our Poshinistas have been burning to ask.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to speak with us! We really need to start by congratulating you on your amazing blog.

Sweet, thanks! And thank you for having me 🙂

Let’s begin by asking a question all of us want to know, how did you get interested in blogging and fashion?

1,5 year ago after I graduated my masters in Marketing I wanted to try out my marketing-skills in the world that I’m really passionate about: fashion. So I started my own Instagram account, which grew amazingly hard. Then I realized a blog was the next big step for me, so I tried it out and now I’m sharing my adventures in fashion, beauty and lifestyle every day. I’m grateful that I can do my passion as business nowadays, and live off it!

How does it feel to be noticed by Stylight and Marie Claire, naming you the “Best New Media Talent” and awarding you the “Most Promising Fashion Blog” Award?

I feel really really blessed with these awards, you can’t even imagine. It’s like the cherry on the blogging-cake for me, since the start in the blogging-scene is always quite unsure if one can make a business out of it or just do it as a hobby. So I’m super glad the hard work (with the insecurity among it) paid off, and I can live my dream today, and see that people actually appreciate it and like to follow my adventures. Besides, it’s a real honour to be noticed by big names as Stylight and Marie Claire!

Your posts continue to stay fresh and fun; where do you get your inspiration for the blog to keep it new and exciting?

Inspiration is everywhere! When I’m having fun with my family or friends I can get really motivated and inspired for some new posts on the blog. Besides that, I can get a huge inspiration from stylish people on the streets, or during a good shopping session. Furthermore, I love to be inspired on a regular relaxing day while reading fashion and lifestyle magazines, as well as online magazines, style websites and my new crush, Pinterest: take a look at my new own page. http://www.pinterest.com/neginmirsalehi/

Describe your typical workday and what your ideal day is like?Wrapped Up | Negin Mirsalehi

Having your own blog for business is really like being on track constantly, 24/7. A typical workday for me starts around 7:30 and we will be working till 01:00 at night most of the times because everyday brings something new to the table. So not that much beauty sleeps unfortunately! Since everyday is different, it’s never a typical day. Meetings, shoots, interviews, trips, office-days, workdays at home, always something else. The only typical parts about my workdays are the blogposts and social posts: I’m trying to post a blogpost each day, the same for posting several photos on my social pages each day. I really can’t complain, because I’m living my dream, but for my ideal workday, a bit more sleep each day would be nice of course 🙂

What is the best and worst thing about being a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blogger?

Well, the best thing of course is that I have the chance to travel around the world to these gorgeous places for work, and meet so many inspiring and nice people. Besides, working together with those stunning high-end brands like Chanel and Dior, is also a big honour to me. The negative side of all the travelling is of course missing my family and friends at home many times. Besides, as a fashionblogger you have to come up with new outfits everyday, since you want to inspire your fans as much as possible. That something is quite a challenge, but well, I like challenges 😉

Would you ever consider designing your own line or working with a company to launch a feature?

YES! That’s really a dream to me, that’s hopefully is going to be fulfilled soon. It’s still top secret, so I’m not saying any more. 😉 I hope everyone will love it as much as I do already!

What are some of your favorite fashion trends now, and what are you ready to see go?

For this summer season I’m really into the ‘sheer-trend’. I can’t get enough of the cute crop-tops, or see-through blouses. Besides this, I love the ripped jeans or jackets, which also show some of your skin. This gives just the right amount femininity and edginess to an outfit, which is totally my style. I really don’t get harem pants: its fitting is not that feminine. But well hey, everybody can wear what they want right? 🙂

What’s your next fashion must-have?

Chelsea-boots: I still didn’t find the perfect pair!

If you had to choose only five brands to wear, what would they be?

ZARA, Céline, Dior, Chanel, Vince

Of all the outfits you’ve posted on your blog, which one is your favorite and why?

If I have to choose, it’s the one with the gorgeous white maxi-dress from Abercrombie, we shot on the Dutch countryside. This day was really fun: we toured around in a blue cute old-school car in this lovely surrounding.

Your style is so elegant and we wonder with style that chic, what does your closet look like?

Well, I keep it organized: I have to, because like I told you before, I always have to come up with new outfit combinations so I need a clear and clean surrounding. Everything is divided in sections (beauty, accessories, jackets, skirts and so on), and mostly on colour as well.

It’s no mystery that you have traveled the world but we must know, which city had your favorite style?

I’m really digging contrasts. Always you will find me searching for interesting and contrasting looks. Combining chic clothes with sporty elements, or high-end brands like Dior and Chanel with brands like ZARA and H&M, or wearing shorts with a very long flowy vest: all examples from my daily favourite looks. All these outfits finished with statement-, edgy pieces and accessories. This I could really discover in the fashion atmosphere of London, because they mix edginess and chicness as well.

If you could travel back in time to a different decade, which would it be, and why?

The Roaring Twenties (20’s), the post-war era (50’s) with Dior’s New Look, or the flower power era (60’s) since all these decades have a little rebellion and edginess in their style, and I really love that. Make a statement with your clothes, set yourself apart from
the rest is really up my alley.

Now that you have seen how far you have come since the start of your site, what would you tell yourself deciding on embarking on this journey?

I keep myself pushing to set goals and achieve them. I still have so many dreams. And if you’re dreams don’t scare you they aren’t big enough 😉 The next big steps are a bit scary, because I really hope it will end up well! So this way I always keep myself motivated and growing.

Aside from blogging, what are you passionate about? What are some of your hobbies?

My health is key in my life. Every other day I’m going to the gym to do some workouts and Body Combat exercises. Of course fruits and vegetables can not be missed on my eating list each day. Besides this, my family and friends are very important to me, so after a busy workday I love to visit them for a dinner or cosy evening together with my boyfriend.

Lastly, what’s one thing that your readers would be surprised to learn about you?

My fans will probably know me as a not that tough and adventurous woman, but as a little girl I was totally into Karate, funny right?
